This approach can also be applied to the viscera – supporting organs to find their way to comfort and smooth function. Pain elsewhere – such as low back, hip or pelvic pain – sometimes has a visceral component that can benefit from specific attention with this kind of work.

This is an incomplete list! If you have specific concerns and are not sure if this work is for you, please give me a call and we can have a brief conversation to discuss.

What is it? How does it work?

Craniosacral therapy supports the body and encourages it’s innate ability to heal and self-regulate. Craniosacral practitioners receive extensive training to hone their ability to perceive and gently support subtle rhythmic movements that originate in the central nervous system and can be felt throughout the body. By using purposeful contact and gentle, inquisitive intent, a craniosacral therapist will use a series of holds to facilitate and encourage the body to move toward health, vitality and resolution. Because every body is different, and because this work is focused on attunement with a person’s nervous system, the specific symptoms addressed can vary widely depending on a client’s lived experience and current state.

What can I expect from a session?

Every session is different and is guided by a client’s needs, starting with a brief intake and continuing throughout the session. This work is collaborative, a conversation between a client, who brings their wisdom, experience, self-awareness and curiosity and a practitioner, whose role is to create and hold a space for healing and provide gentle verbal and physical observation, questions, and support.

This work is done with the client laying down on a massage table. Based on the client’s preference, the client can be fully clothed in comfortable, loose-fitting clothes – think pajamas – or undressed to the client’s level of comfort and under a sheet and blanket, similar to a massage session.
